Having found a rare parcel on Asheville's Kenilworth Lake, located in the historic Kenilworth Neighborhood, the client requested that the exterior be compatible with the smaller homes that form the context of the neighborhood. Taking cues from some of the adjacent homes we designed the home in a Mission style, allowing the home to step down with the topography to ensure a functional and spatial connection with the lakefront yard. The interior's open plan satisfies the owner's desires for fluidity, and the extensive exterior hardscape and terraces likewise address needs for large gatherings and coherent circulation.
